In recent weeks, Chile became the first Latin American country to overdraw all the natural resources it had available by 2020, according to data from the Global Ecological Footprint Network. Here we tell you how we are committed so that you do not have to read news like this again.
In 2015, the 193 countries that make up the UN committed to the Sustainable Development Goals program, which is expected to be met by 2030. These are 17 points of global agreement that seek economic, social and environmental transformation.
The SDGs seek to link three central elements: economic growth, social inclusion and environmental protection, challenges on which we are focused and seek to promote through our work. Through the work we carried out, we set out to focus mainly on the following:
End of poverty: we generate social and economic impact through the fair distribution of our profits.
Reduction of inequalities: we provide the opportunity to show and support the talent of Chilean artisans who are in a situation of vulnerability. We develop and create our projects together with them.
Responsible production and consumption: we encourage responsible consumption using natural and recycled materials, giving wood a new use and thus reducing the environmental impact.
Climate action: we take care of the waste of others, collecting unused wood from construction companies or people who are remodeling their homes to transform and give life to new projects.
Life of terrestrial ecosystems: in addition to waste materials, all the products with which we work with wood such as varnishes or impregnants are of 100% natural origin, based on beeswax and sage.
Have you ever wondered where the products you consume come from? At Nowü we make a call to rethink consumption, and ask ourselves about the origin of what we acquire. Thus, contributing a small grain of sand, we are contributing as individuals to achieving a better future for those around us.
There are thousands of actions to help the planet; from growing your own organic garden, to buying local products and recycling in your building or neighborhood. If we all do small actions at the local level, we can contribute to big changes. Motivate yourself to collaborate too!
Nowü Home, connecting artisans with you.
